Summarize what you learned in this unit-
In this unit of Ecology I learned about all the effects we as humans have had on the environment. I also learned of the numerous amounts of invasive species that continue to plague and hurt the native species. Part of the invasive species part of this unit included us making a video of a park near us that could use some help or assistance. My video is on the page before this.
What did you like the most this semester? The least?-
What I enjoyed the most was the immense amount of research that we did. It was nice to have so much background on what we should look for. What I enjoyed the least was the making of my video. Sadly my partner and I had to visit the park minutes after a huge rain shower where it made it very hard to move to the sights we wanted to see. We were there for around 20 minutes and about 10 minutes after we left, the rain continued once more.
Now that you have learned about human inputs on the environment, how will you change your behavior in the future?-
In the future I plan to reduce the amount of leaves and other biomass reduction as much as possible. Usually around fall to the beginning of winter my family and I pick up the immense amount of fallen leaves and branches that cover our backyard. However, I know now that actually damages the ecosystem and I will not do so unless it is absolutely necessary.
