Abiotic Factors:
- Rocks, so the smaller biotic creatures could use the bigger rocks as either their shelter or a place to hide
- Dirt, so our plant and other organisms could thrive and have the opportunity to become the best they can be
- Soil, added and mixed with the dirt to ensure the best quality of nutrients mostly for the plant
- Fertilizer, added to the soil to also ensure the best quality of nutrients mostly for the plant, and also for any detritivores that decompose dead material in our terrarium
Biotic Factors:
- A plant, to ensure a gooood snack for any smaller organisms that feel like eating some plant
- Earthworms, to decompose dead material for a natural fertilizer
The Nutrient Cycles in our Terrarium
Water Cycle
Water that we put in plant is evaporated→ That water is then condensed→ The condensed water forms as condensation on our plant
Carbon Cycle
Carbon first comes down from the atmosphere→ Our plant uses it in photosynthesis and is shoved into the soil→ There it eventually seeps back out and into the atmosphere;’
Nitrogen Cycle
In our Terrarium the nitrogen cycle is present in one way (Even though in the outside world there are many).
Nitrogen floats from the atmosphere down into the soil→ Plants take it into their roots and use it for daily processes→ The plants release it into the air where animals breathe it in (us while we are in the classroom)--> The carbon dioxide we exhale contains that nitrogen and is eventually returned to the ground→ from there the nitrogen eventually make it out of the ground and into the atmosphere (or the process it repeated)
